26th Sept, 2014 is the very day that the Confucius Institute in Islamabad celebrates the 10th Anniversary of Confucius Institute, and the activity has finished successfully. Today’s National University of Modern Languages has been filled by delightful atmosphere as a festival.
The ceremony was organized by Confucius Institute in Islamabad, National University of Modern Languages of Pakistan and the Embassy of People’s Republic of China.
H.E. Mr. Sun Weidong, the Ambassador of China to Pakistan; Senator Mushahi Hussain, Chairman of Pak-China Institute; H.E. Mr. Zhang Yingbao, the Culture Counselor of Chinese Embassy were present in the function. Besides, some Directors and Deans of NUML attended the ceremony. In addition, there were a number of close partners from some companies, schools, media and social groups.
At the beginning of the ceremony, following the birthday song, all the chief guests cut the birthday cake for the Confucius Institute, which denoted the start of the celebration.
After the welcome speech that was given by Mr. Hassan, the attendees watched the first prize of CII (Confucius Institute in Islamabad) TV documentary making contest. Before the celebration, the Confucius Institute had held a big Cultural Carnival, which included Knowledge Competition of Chinese Culture and some cultural shows, such as: Martial Arts, Calligraphy, Peking Opera Face Mask Making, etc. And today, a prize distribution was arranged during the ceremonial.
With the applause and high praise, the celebration culminated after Mr. Sun Weidong’s splendid address. The Ambassador expressed his high praise for the CII’s contributions to the culture communication between China and Pakistan and contributions to the promotion of Chinese language teaching. He said CII is a bridge of friendship of the two countries and showed his appreciation to the staff of CII. He also hoped that CII could play a larger role in the future. Senate Mushahid Hussain also gave a high valuation to the work of CII have done in the past nine years.
At the end of the ceremony, all the guests flew the balloons with full of blessing and wish, and almost everyone expressed his passion and expectations to the career of Confucius Institute and the future of China-Pak’s friendship, in a nutshell, take the culture as a treasure, make the friendship lasts forever.
